AN INVISIBLE LOUDSPEAKER SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA - HOW DOES IT WORK?

The SOUND ADVANCE SA2B is a unique device that is the product of over 20 years of research, engineering and development. While there are many speakers that claim they're almost invisible, or sort of invisible, or don't look like a loudspeaker- our claims and operation are totally different.

The SOUND ADVANCE SA2B is a Flat Panel, electrodynamic loudspeaker. Its "speaker" construction is a Flat Panel expanded polystyrene (EPS) that is engineered to provide wide range sound reproduction and voice for a variety of applications. Most uses are residential, presentation environments and high fashion retail- places where looks are very important but so is the music or the message. You will find installation guidelines further down in this section.

QUESTION - An invisible loudspeaker seems like a great idea! What's involved with installation?

The SOUND ADVANCE SA2 flat panel is approximately 14 inches wide by 23 inches high and requires a minimum of 3-3/ 4" installation depth in either gypsum wall board or conventional plaster construction. The gypsum wall board or conventional plaster construction is removed between 16"-0 on-center studs (or wider) and replaced with the SOUND ADVANCE SA2 loudspeaker. Installation and systems interface is done by a SOUND ADVANCE Certified SA2 Dealer - Installer. The loudspeaker and surrounding area is now ready for recommended finishes or coverings which results in a completely invisible installation. See below for recommendations and cautions.

QUESTION - Now that my invisible loudspeakers are installed, what happens if they break?

SOUND ADVANCE warranties the SA2 Invisible Loudspeakers for seven full years! Once installed by a Certified SA2 Dealer/ Installer, should any failure occur due to electromechanical reasons, SOUND ADVANCE will, at their expense, pay for the removal and replacement of the loudspeaker, including restoration to original condition. Certified installations are mandatory to protect you for these seven years. Installation by any other non-certified source will provide only a one (1) year manufacturer's defect warranty.

QUESTION - How can SOUND ADVANCE warranty the speaker and its installation for seven years?

Exceptional quality control in the manufacturing and testing of the product. Every product is individually tested and fits a very precise performance envelope before it is released for shipment.

Internal protection - a series of self healing gel switches that will temporarily disconnect the loudspeaker should it become overpowered due to accidental operation. These gel switches are a military grade part designed to operate many millions of times without failure.

Our Certified SA2 Dealers/Installers - this is the heart of our warranty. SOUND ADVANCE has developed a detailed and intense training program to insure that Dealer/Installers are familiar with all types of SA2 installations. Certified Installers have "eyes- on" responsibility for the installation.

QUESTION - Where's the best location for an SA2 Invisible Loudspeaker?

For ceiling and/or in-wall installations, the following guidelines are recommended: 7'-0 to 12'-0 above the finished floor with spacing no more than twice the install height apart. Because the installations are totally invisible, don't be terribly concerned with the loudspeakers being the same height off the floor because of obstructions or room geometry. Example: If a pair of SA2's are installed on a 10'-0 ceiling, use spacing no more than 20'-0 apart. Our Certified SA2 Dealer/Installer will make recommendations for your specific application. Avoid considering placement of loudspeakers within 30 inches of an intersection of a wall and ceiling or two walls as unpleasant audio reflections and coloration could result.

QUESTION - What materials can I use over an SA2 Invisible Loudspeaker?

RECOMMENDED coverings are: water clean-up paints (latex), most fabrics, paper and vinyl wall coverings or skim coats of drywall compounds and plaster - up to 1/8" thick.

NOT RECOMMENDED coverings are: woven grass cloth, vertical grade laminates or veneers, built-up surfaces greater than 1/8" thick. For some installations, the SOUND ADVANCE Model ICC (Installation Compensation Circuit) is a vital system component. This is an active equalizer with fixed and variable circuits that compensate for different finishes that are applied over the speaker.
